The Chair of International Relations and Political Economy deals with research questions in international politics. While the chair offers a broad range of topics in international relations in teaching, the research focus is on empirical-analytical analyses in the areas of international political economy and international cooperation. In particular, we study distributional conflicts, policy preferences, and policy and bargaining outcomes in the context of globalization, financial crises, European integration, and international cooperation. A special focus is currently on research on the "globalization backlash" and on current challenges for international cooperation. A large part of the research is currently conducted within the project "The Mass Politics of Disintegration" (funded by an ERC Consolidator Grant).
