Curriculum vitae

Reto Mitteregger is a PhD candidate at the Chair of Swiss Politics and Comparative Political Economy. He obtained his BA in 2017 from the University of Zurich in political science and modern history (minor). Following his BA, he obtained his MA at the University of Zurich in political science in 2020. He started working as a research assistant and tutor in 2017 at the Chair of International Relations and Political Economy and in 2018 at the Chair of Swiss Politics and CPE at the Department of political science in Zurich. In 2020, he also worked as a research assistant for the "Junge Akademie" in Germany and as a research assistant and tutor employed for the Research Area ”Direct Democracy and Political Participation”. 

His research focuses on electoral behavior and political parties, with a particular focus on generational change and age differences, as well as left-wing parties. His PhD thesis on “generational voting effects in Western Europe” is supported by a Doc.CH grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation which he obtained in September 2021. Reto Mitteregger was a visiting scholar at the University of Amsterdam in 2023/2024.
