Daniel Kübler, born in Heidelberg in 1969, is Professor for Democracy and Public Governance at IPZ, as well as Head of Department at the Centre for Democracy Study since April 2009. After High School in Zurich, he studied Political Science at the University of Lausanne (MA in 1993, PhD in 1998) and obtained a habilitation degree from the University of Zurich (in 2005). Previously, he held positions as a lecturer and research fellow at the University of Lausanne (1994-1996), at the Institut de recherche sur l'environnement construit of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (1993-2003), at the Chair of Forest policy and forest economy of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (1998-1999), as well as at the Department of Political Science of the University of Zurich (2000-2003). From 2004 to 2008, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at the University of Zurich. From 2008 to 2009, he was a Lecturer in Social Policy and Social Planning at the University of Applied Science of Northwest Switzerland in Basel. He has been a visiting fellow at the University of Montpellier (1996/97), at the University of Constance (2003/04), at the University of New South Wales (2004/2005), as well as at Sciences Po Paris (2017/2018). From 2012 to 2018, he was the Academic Director of the NCCR Democracy. From 2013 to 2016 he served as the Director of the Centre for Democracy Studies Aarau. Since 2018, he is Associated Researcher at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics at Sciences Po Paris.
