Cathrine Valentin Kjær is a political scientist studying how political influence operates in digital environments. Her main research focus is to understand how the structural features of digital spaces change the conditions for political influence. Her work is interdisciplinary and combines quantitative methods across multiple data sources, ranging from large-scale social media data collection and computational text analysis to qualitative analysis of argumentation in citizens’ online engagement with misinformation. She joined the IPZ and the Chair of Digital Democracy in September 2026 and is currently completing her Ph.D. in Political and Social Sciences at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence.
