Cheryl Vaterlaus is a PhD student in the research project "Multidimensional polarization and its consequences for democracy in Europe" led by Dr. Jelle Koedam. The project is funded by an SNSF Ambizione Grant and is hosted by the Chair of Comparative Politics held by Prof. Daniele Caramani.
She obtained her Bachelor's degree in Cultural Studies with a major in Political Science from the University of Lucerne in 2019. In 2022, she completed her Master's degree in Political Science with a minor in Methods-Data-Society at the University of Zurich. In her Master's thesis, she examined the electorates of populist parties in Europe using machine learning.
