Hiring / Oberassistierende (Senior Teaching and Research Assistants)

Qualification position with framework duties: Independent realisation of research projects, management of a research group, supervision of Master's theses and dissertations, acquisition of third-party funding, own courses, collaboration in other professorial tasks. A successful dissertation is a prerequisite.

The basic classification is with a university degree and a doctorate, possibly increased responsibility, more than 2 subordinate employees, special technical responsibility or tasks, e.g. deputising for a superior or - as a sub-task - head of administration.

General:

  • Temporary appointment
    • for a maximum of 3 years
    • Can be extended by up to 3 years in each case up to a maximum of 9 years (§ 15 para. 3 PVO-UZH)
      • The period of employment as a postdoctoral researcher is counted towards the period as a senior teaching and research assistant. A postdoctoral position followed by a senior assistant position can last a maximum of 9 years. 

The tasks of the senior teaching and research assistant include:

  • Independent realisation of research projects
  • Acquisition of third-party funding
  • Activities in connection with teaching and other professorial duties
  • Co-supervision of Master's theses and dissertations
  • Organising your own courses
  • Leading a research group
  • Acquisition of HR and management skill

As of 01.01.2024
